Traditional aural training tends to put more emphasis on pitch and relegates rhythm to the back burner. I have noted the effect of this when conducting younger bands. Most of their reading problems are due to a basic lack of understanding of the rhythmicalstructure of phrases, rather than pitch related. This well graded workbookhas the potential to rectify this problem. Many different rhythmicgroupings and writing styles are clearly presentedand analysed. This book will provide invaluable assistance to all musicians and lead to a greater understanding of the fundamentals of rhythm" Graeme Lyall - Lecturer in Composition & Arranging, Western Australian Conservatorium of Music "This is a wonderfully comprehensive
